Who says video conferencing has to be dull and boring? This summer, add colour to your zoom calls by experimenting with these 5 outfits and you will not only look fresh as a daisy but will also feel cool as a cucumber as the temperature rises. (Similes, right?!)
1. Long cotton dresses
Most have us completely chucked wearing pants during a video call. Pairing you fancy top with a pair of pyjamas has become the new norm. Why not ditch those pants completely and opt for a cotton dress instead? The light fabric is going to help with the scorching heat and a flowy dress will keep it breezy. Style your outfit with statement accessories and voila! You just made talking into a laptop a lot more fun!
2. Ya basic!
If a neat and clean look is what you want to go for, matching your basic T-shirt with a pair of your favourite joggers is the safest bet. A plain solid coloured T-shirt or a graphic Tee with your most loved quote on it, you can never go wrong with this tried and tested formula, which will give you the quintessential casual look for this season. Tie your hair into a high pony and wing that eyeliner of yours to spice up this basic look and you’re all set to ace that virtual meeting.
3. Keep it to kurtas
If you have a section in your wardrobe that is dedicated to staking all those cotton kurtas that haven’t been touched for a while, it’s time to take them out and flaunt how this Indian garment makes you look like a sultry queen in this hot weather. A simple white kurta with a pair of silver coloured jhumkas and a statement bindi is all you need, to grab the right mix of professional and comfortable. You could experiment with braiding your hair for this look and there you have it- a spiced up simple look that will make your co-workers wonder if they too need to up their fashion game.
4. It’s always right in white
A long white tunic with a pair of black leggings is one outfit you can never go wrong with. The light colour will reflect any heat that comes your way and the leggings are practically a hug replacement for pants. Accessorise your look with a bold red lipstick or add a printed hairband for breaking the monotony, this look is a sure shot on getting it right for the digital screen.
5. Call it in a camisole
Our last summer look screams comfort just like it screams style. Pull out your classiest camisole from the closet and match it up with a pair of solid coloured shorts for the perfect mix of a casual and formal look for this hot season. Throw on a blazer if it’s a formal meeting or use a chunky neck piece to lift up the look, style it in a way that makes this outfit pop out in your next digi-call.

I am a Fashion Media Communication student at Pearl Academy, Mumbai. I have a passion for writing which is what made me choose this career path. Previously, I have worked with Hindustan Times as a student editor; Facilius Media Solutions as a content writer, The Creative Indians show as a social media manager; and for Barkha Datt at an event called We The Women, as a social media manager. I have also recently worked for New York Fashion Week, Autumn/Winter 2019 as a journalisms and PR intern. Apart from writing I also enjoy travelling and watching films. Travelling brings in a lot of learning that no other activity can offer. It also gives me a different perspective of the world. As far as films are concerned, I believe each film changes our lives in a different way. The change might be tiny, but every drop counts, right?
